"Racketship" is a mixed media sculpture that combines a wooden stool, tennis racket, and 53 tennis balls to create a dynamic and visually striking artwork. The artist's use of these materials suggests a merging of different domains, such as the athletic and the domestic, to create something new and unexpected.
Potential and kinetic energy is happening simultaneously through "Racketship". The tennis racket, as a tool used to transfer kinetic energy from the player to the ball, is a symbol of the physical effort and action. The wooden stool, on the other hand, represents stability and support, and is a symbol of the potential energy contained within a system.
The 53 tennis balls contained within the center of the stool can be interpreted as a representation of the energy that is waiting to be released. The use of a specific number of tennis balls suggests a sense of precision and attention to detail on the part of the artist.
